Sitting outside yesterday got me thinking about sunblock. Is it all created equally? There are so many types out there right now I decided to do a little research. Sunblock is categorized by SPF (Sun Protection Factor) and usually by age. Here are a few tips for picking the best sunblock:
1. If you are going to be in the water or sweating a lot (playing a sport, etc.) choose one that is waterproof.
2. Choose one labeled "broad spectrum." This means it protects from both UVA and UVB rays.
3. Choose an SPF of at least 30.
4. Look for one that contains zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. These both reflect UV rays so they are not absorbed by your skin.
5. If you have a nut allergy, check the ingredients as many contain nuts & fruit extract.
The key is to reapply often. Better safe than sorry for sure.
Cheers to a Fantastic and Burn Free Summer!
