The closer I get to 50, I know I personally struggle more and more with fat burning. While it is challenging at any age, the older we get, the more difficult it becomes.
Here are a few tips to help you with fat-burning -
Switch sugary drinks for water. Sugary drinks are associated with increased body fat and typically have zero nutritional value. At the minimum, you should drink ½ your body weight in ounces in water. For example, if you weigh 150#, you need to consume 75 oz. of water, at the minimum. I personally shoot for 1 ounce per pound. Increase your water intake to help curb your hunger as well as increase fat burning. Not to mention lowering your calories and sugar intake from sugary drink choices.
Make sure you get plenty of sleep. Studies show that women who slept five or fewer hours per night were more likely to gain weight than those who slept 7 hours a night. Better sleep quality also increases the likelihood of successful weight loss. Getting enough sleep is also shown to decrease appetite and hunger. Everyone needs a different amount of sleep but 7 hours seems to provide the most benefit.
Start weight training. Weight training has many benefits. One is a reduction of visceral fat and metabolic syndrome. Weight training also preserves fat-free mass which increases the number of calories your body burns.
Add apple cider vinegar to your morning routine. Studies show along with potential effects on heart health and blood sugar control, it also increases your fat burning. It may also enhance feelings of fullness like water consumption does, which leads to reduced appetite.
