Homemade Salsa Recipe

Did you know Salsa is a great way to spice up your diet and add more healthy foods to your meal plan while still eating healthy & clean??!

Salsa can take the place of many high-fat or high-sugar condiments, like commercial salad dressings, cheese sauces, and cheese dips. As always, compare nutritional labels to make smart food choices; select a brand that is lower in sodium. You could also make your own fresh salsa.

Homemade Salsa Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 large ripe tomatoes

  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes (optional)

  • 3 green onions

  • 1/2 red onion

  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro

  • 1 lime (juiced)

  • 1 jalapeno pepper

  • 1 clove garlic (minced)

  • 1/4 tsp ground cumin

  • 1 tsp sugar ((optional))

  • salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions:

  • Chop tomatoes, green onions, red onion & jalapeno peppers!

  • Combine all the ingredients in a large food processor and pulse in quick 1 second bursts until the ingredients further get finely chopped.

  • Keep pulsing until you've reached your desired consistency! Less pulsing for chunkier salsa; whereas, more 1 sec pulsing for a smoother one!

  • Season with salt & pepper to taste!

  • Take it out in a large bowl & refrigerate it for 30 mins to allow the flavors to blend.

PS - You can store it in the refrigerator for up to 1 week!
