Mars in Leo: Your Permission Slip to Take Up Space

On September 27, Mars — the planet of action, drive, and desire — moved into Leo, where it's staying through November 25.

If the 10/10 portal was about planting intentions (we covered that here), Mars in Leo is about moving on them. This is the stop-waiting-for-permission transit.

What does Mars in Leo actually mean?

Mars is how you go after what you want. Leo is the sign of courage, creativity, self-expression, and being seen. Put them together and you get eight weeks of: say the thing, start the thing, take up the space.

For women our age, this one hits different. We've spent decades making ourselves smaller, softer, more convenient — for everybody else's comfort. Mars in Leo doesn't do small.

Why I'm extra excited (a Leo thing)

Full disclosure: I'm a Leo. So Mars is currently throwing a party in my home sign, and I'm taking it personally — in the best way.

But you don't have to be a Leo to use this. Mars in Leo is an invitation for all of us to lead with our hearts and stop auditioning for our own lives.

5 ways to work with Mars in Leo

1. Create something just for fun.

Not for content. Not for sale. Cook, paint, garden, dance in your kitchen. Leo energy needs play, and play is where your best ideas live.

2. Do one brave, visible thing every week.

Post the opinion. Wear the bold lip. Raise your hand first. Visibility is a muscle — this is your eight-week training plan.

3. Move your body.

Mars is physical energy. A walk, a stretch, a good sweat keeps the fire from turning into snippiness. (Ask me how I know.)

4. Say the proud thing out loud.

Tell someone what you did well this week. Start with yourself, in the mirror if you have to. Leo needs recognition — begin by giving it to yourself.

5. Check in with your heart before you react.

Leo rules the heart. When something stings, hand on chest, three slow breaths, then respond. Bold doesn't have to mean brash.

Your Mars in Leo crystal:

October's crystal, Black Obsidian, is perfect here too — protection and grounding while you get bolder. Hold it when you do the scary-visible thing. (Here's why I chose it for October.)

One more thing

This story gets a second chapter: Mars swings back through Leo again next spring (February–May 2027), so whatever you start now comes back around for another look. Plant boldly.

Your Mars in Leo affirmation: I take up space. I create boldly. I let myself be seen.

Enjoy this season!
