Hunter's Moon in Taurus: What This Full Moon Means for Grounding & Letting Go
The full moon peaks Sunday night, October 25, at 11:12 p.m. Central (technically the first minutes of Monday, October 26) — and it's a beauty. This is the Hunter's Moon, sitting in steady, sensual Taurus.
She'll look full both Sunday and Monday night, so pick your evening and make a little ceremony of it.

Why is it called the Hunter's Moon?
The old folk names for full moons come from the rhythms of the year. September's was the Harvest Moon — gathering in what had grown. The Hunter's Moon follows it: the bright, early-rising moon that once let hunters track game after sunset and stock up before winter.
For us, the modern version is just as practical: this is the moon for taking stock. What have you gathered this year? What's actually feeding your life — and what's just taking up space in the freezer?
What a full moon in Taurus means
Taurus is a fixed earth sign ruled by Venus — comfort, money, the body, the senses, and what we truly value. A full moon here is grounding energy: slow down, get cozy, and get honest about what's enough.
Across the sky, the Sun is in Scorpio, the sign of transformation and letting go. So this moon asks a very Taurus-meets-Scorpio question: am I holding this because it enriches my life, or because I'm afraid to let it go?
One more layer: Mercury turned retrograde on October 24 and Venus is retrograde too, so this is a review moon, not a launch moon. Revisit, release, reorganize. The starting-something-new can wait for the next new moon.
Full moon practices (the grounding kind)
1. Check your 10/10 intentions. Remember the intentions you set at the 10/10 Portal New Moon? Pull that list out. What moved? What surprised you? What quietly went nowhere? No judgment — this is information, not a report card.
2. Charge your crystals. Set your crystals out where the moonlight can reach them overnight — a windowsill works perfectly. Full moonlight is the classic reset: cleanse, recharge, ready for the next cycle.
3. Write the gratitude list. Full moons are for celebrating progress, not just chasing what's next. Write down five things from this cycle you're genuinely grateful for — including at least one thing you did. Taurus loves a little luxury here, so make it nice: good candle, favorite drink, cozy blanket.
4. Decide what to carry forward — and what to release. Look at your intentions and your life with fresh eyes. Carry forward what's working. Release the rest with gratitude, whether that's a habit, a commitment, or one thing in your home that's been weighing on you. Taurus rules our stuff — donating one bag counts.
5. Make full-moon water or take a moon bath. Set a covered jar of water out under the full moon and use it over the next few days to water your plants or splash your face in the morning. Or run a warm bath, add salts, and soak under the glow. And my standing safety note: crystals around the water, never inside drinking water.
Your Hunter's Moon crystal
October's crystal, Black Obsidian, is right at home here — protection, emotional grounding, and clean boundaries while you release what's heavy. Taurus grounds you; obsidian guards the gate. (Here's why I chose it for October.)
Your full moon affirmation
I am grounded in what I've built. I celebrate how far I've come, and I release what no longer feeds my life.
Happy Hunter's Moon, beautiful. Ground down, give thanks, let go.
